Our Limonite quartz is sourced from Mwinilunga in the extreme north west of Zambia
Limonite Quartz , known in the gem industry as Golden Healer Quartz, is formed in a similar process to aura quartz. Through a process of hydrothermal and vapour deposition a thin film of iron hydroxides and oxides forms a molecular bond with the quartz surface. Over time the quartz continues to grow, covering the limonite in a layer of clear quartz and depending on the thickness of the successive layer, produces beautiful bright yellow phantoms.
Occasionally, hematite and magnetite are also deposited creating red and grey phantoms respectfully.
Our limonite ranges in size from a few grams to several kilograms. It is mostly druzy material with occasional fully formed crystals
